Band 9 IELTS Essay

Band 9 IELTS Essay কেমন হয়?

A Band 9 IELTS essay is not an essay full of difficult words. It is an essay that fully answers the question, presents a clear and well-developed position, organises ideas naturally, uses topic-relevant vocabulary, and maintains excellent grammatical control.

Original Band 9-Style IELTS Essay Sample

Question:
Some people believe that online education is better than traditional classroom learning. Others think classroom learning is more effective. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

Band 9-style Sample Answer:

In recent years, online education has become increasingly popular, leading many people to question whether it is more effective than traditional classroom learning. While digital learning offers flexibility and wider access to educational resources, I believe that classroom-based education remains more effective for most learners because it provides direct interaction, stronger discipline, and a more engaging learning environment.

On the one hand, online education has several practical advantages. It allows students to learn from anywhere, which is particularly useful for those who live far from major cities or have limited access to quality institutions. For example, a learner from a small town can attend an IELTS class conducted by an experienced teacher without travelling to Dhaka. Moreover, recorded lessons, digital resources, and flexible schedules make online learning convenient for working professionals and university students. Therefore, online education can make learning more accessible and cost-effective.

On the other hand, classroom learning often creates a more focused and interactive environment. In a physical classroom, students can ask questions immediately, participate in discussions, and receive direct feedback from teachers. This face-to-face interaction can improve motivation and reduce the sense of isolation that some online learners experience. In addition, classroom settings often help students maintain discipline because they follow a fixed routine and learn with peers who share similar goals. This is especially important for subjects that require regular correction, such as IELTS Writing and Speaking.

In my opinion, online education is useful when it is well-structured and supported by expert guidance. However, traditional classroom learning is generally more effective for learners who need personal attention, real-time interaction, and consistent accountability. The best approach may be to combine both methods so that students can enjoy the flexibility of online learning while still receiving meaningful feedback and support.

Overall, although online education has made learning more accessible, classroom learning continues to offer important academic and psychological benefits. A balanced model that includes flexibility, interaction, and expert feedback is likely to be the most effective solution.

Question

Some people believe that university education should be free for everyone, regardless of their financial background. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Sample Answer

In many countries, the cost of higher education has increased significantly, leading some people to argue that university education should be provided free of charge to all students. Although I believe that every student deserves equal educational opportunities, I partially disagree that university education should be completely free for everyone.

One major advantage of free university education is that it allows students from disadvantaged families to pursue higher studies without financial pressure. Many talented young people fail to attend university simply because they cannot afford tuition fees. If governments provide financial support, more students will be able to develop their knowledge and skills, which will ultimately benefit the country's economy. A highly educated workforce often leads to higher productivity, innovation, and economic growth.

However, offering free education to every student may place an enormous burden on public finances. Governments are also responsible for funding healthcare, transportation, security, and other essential public services. If all university education becomes free, taxes may have to increase, or funding for other sectors may decrease. Furthermore, some students may not value their education when they are not required to contribute financially.

In my opinion, governments should provide scholarships and subsidised education for academically qualified students and those from low-income families instead of making higher education completely free for everyone. Such a system would ensure fairness while maintaining financial sustainability.

In conclusion, although free university education can increase access to learning, providing it to every student regardless of financial circumstances is not the most practical solution. A balanced approach would be more beneficial for both students and society.

Question

Technology is making people less social. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Sample Answer

The rapid development of technology has transformed the way people communicate and interact. While some argue that technology has reduced face-to-face communication, I believe that it has changed the way people socialise rather than making them less social.

On the one hand, excessive use of smartphones and social media has undoubtedly reduced direct human interaction. It is common to see family members sitting together while paying more attention to their mobile devices than to each other. Young people, in particular, often spend hours on social networking platforms instead of participating in outdoor activities or spending time with friends. As a result, personal relationships may become weaker over time.

On the other hand, technology has made communication easier than ever before. People can now maintain relationships regardless of geographical distance through video calls, instant messaging, and online communities. For example, students studying abroad can communicate with their families daily without significant cost. Similarly, professionals can collaborate with colleagues from different countries using digital platforms.

In my opinion, technology itself is not responsible for making people less social. Instead, the problem lies in how individuals choose to use it. When used responsibly, technology strengthens relationships by providing more opportunities for communication and collaboration.

In conclusion, although technology may reduce face-to-face interaction in some situations, it has greatly expanded the ways in which people connect with one another.

Essay 3

Question

Some people think online education is better than traditional classroom learning. Others believe classroom education is more effective. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

Sample Answer

The popularity of online education has grown rapidly over the past decade. While many people believe digital learning offers greater convenience, others argue that classroom education remains the most effective method of learning. In my opinion, although online education has many advantages, classroom learning is generally more beneficial.

Supporters of online education argue that it provides flexibility and accessibility. Students can learn from anywhere, making education available to those who live in remote areas or have busy work schedules. In addition, online courses often allow learners to study at their own pace and review recorded lessons whenever necessary. This flexibility is particularly useful for working professionals.

However, classroom learning offers several advantages that online education cannot fully replace. Students can communicate directly with teachers, ask questions immediately, and participate in group discussions. Face-to-face interaction also improves motivation and reduces distractions, which helps students remain focused throughout the learning process. Furthermore, practical subjects often require direct supervision and immediate feedback from instructors.

I believe that classroom education remains more effective because it creates stronger engagement between teachers and students. Nevertheless, online education can complement traditional learning by providing additional flexibility and learning resources.

In conclusion, although online learning has made education more accessible, classroom education continues to provide a more interactive and disciplined learning environment.

Question

Some people believe governments should invest more in public transport than in building new roads. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Sample Answer

Traffic congestion has become a major problem in many cities around the world. Some people argue that governments should spend more money improving public transportation instead of constructing new roads. I strongly agree with this opinion.

One important reason is that efficient public transportation can reduce the number of private vehicles on the roads. If buses, trains, and metro services become faster, more reliable, and affordable, many commuters will choose public transport over driving their own cars. This would significantly reduce traffic congestion while also lowering fuel consumption and air pollution.

Another advantage is that investing in public transportation benefits a larger proportion of the population. Unlike new highways, which mainly benefit car owners, public transport is accessible to students, elderly people, and low-income families. Moreover, expanding public transportation systems encourages environmentally friendly travel and supports sustainable urban development.

Although building new roads may temporarily reduce traffic in certain areas, this solution is often short-lived because increased road capacity encourages more people to buy private vehicles. Consequently, traffic congestion usually returns after a few years.

In conclusion, governments should prioritise public transportation because it provides long-term economic, environmental, and social benefits while reducing traffic problems more effectively than constructing additional roads.

Question

Many people believe that children should not use smartphones until they reach the age of 16. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Sample Answer

The increasing use of smartphones among children has become a widely debated issue. Some people believe that young people should not own smartphones before the age of sixteen. Although smartphones offer educational benefits, I largely agree that restricting their use until teenagers become more mature would be beneficial.

One reason for this is that excessive smartphone use can negatively affect children's physical and mental health. Many young people spend hours using social media or playing online games instead of participating in outdoor activities or communicating with family members. This behaviour may contribute to obesity, poor concentration, and even anxiety.

Another concern is online safety. Younger children often lack the maturity to recognise online risks such as cyberbullying, inappropriate content, and internet scams. Parents may find it difficult to monitor their children's online activities continuously, making unrestricted smartphone access potentially harmful.

However, smartphones can also be valuable educational tools. Students can use learning applications, online dictionaries, and educational videos to improve their academic performance. Furthermore, smartphones allow parents to communicate with their children in emergencies, providing an additional level of safety.

In my opinion, children should have limited access to smartphones under parental supervision rather than complete freedom to use them. Responsible usage combined with proper guidance can help children benefit from technology while avoiding its negative consequences.

In conclusion, although smartphones provide several educational advantages, delaying unrestricted smartphone use until children are older is likely to have more positive long-term effects.

Question

Some people think that advertising has a positive influence on consumers, while others believe it encourages people to buy unnecessary things. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

Sample Answer

Advertising plays a significant role in modern society, influencing the choices people make every day. While some people believe advertisements provide useful information about products and services, others argue that they encourage unnecessary spending. In my opinion, although advertising has certain benefits, it often persuades consumers to purchase things they do not actually need.

On the one hand, advertising helps consumers become aware of new products, technological innovations, and special offers. It allows businesses to introduce their products to potential customers and creates competition in the market. As a result, consumers often enjoy better quality products at competitive prices. Furthermore, advertisements can also promote social awareness campaigns related to health, education, and environmental protection, benefiting society as a whole.

On the other hand, many advertisements are carefully designed to influence people's emotions rather than their actual needs. Companies frequently use celebrities, attractive visuals, and emotional storytelling to convince consumers that buying a product will improve their lifestyle or social status. Consequently, many people end up purchasing expensive items they neither need nor use regularly. This behaviour often leads to unnecessary financial pressure and increased consumerism.

In my opinion, advertising should be viewed as a useful source of information, but consumers should make purchasing decisions based on necessity rather than persuasive marketing techniques.

In conclusion, although advertising provides valuable information and supports business growth, it often encourages excessive consumption. Therefore, people should develop the habit of making informed and responsible purchasing decisions.

Essay 7

Question

Some people believe that success comes mainly from hard work, while others think money and appearance are more important. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

Sample Answer

Success is often viewed differently by different people. While some believe that determination and hard work are the key factors behind success, others argue that wealth and physical appearance play a more significant role. In my opinion, although money and appearance may provide certain advantages, hard work remains the most important factor for long-term success.

Those who support the importance of money and appearance argue that attractive individuals often create positive first impressions during interviews or business meetings. Similarly, wealthy families can provide better education, stronger professional networks, and more career opportunities. These advantages may help individuals progress more quickly than those from less privileged backgrounds.

However, these factors alone rarely guarantee lasting success. History is filled with examples of successful entrepreneurs, scientists, and athletes who achieved remarkable accomplishments through persistence, discipline, and continuous learning rather than inherited wealth or physical attractiveness. Hardworking individuals are more likely to develop valuable skills, overcome challenges, and adapt to changing circumstances, which are essential qualities for long-term achievement.

In my opinion, while financial resources and appearance may create opportunities, they cannot replace commitment, dedication, and consistent effort. Without these qualities, initial advantages often disappear over time.

In conclusion, although money and appearance can contribute to success in certain situations, hard work remains the most reliable path to achieving meaningful and sustainable success.

Essay 8

Question

Some people believe that children should learn coding at school, while others think traditional subjects are more important. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

Sample Answer

With technology becoming an essential part of everyday life, many educators believe coding should be taught in schools. Others argue that traditional subjects such as mathematics, science, and literature should remain the main focus of education. In my opinion, coding deserves a place in modern education, but it should complement rather than replace traditional subjects.

Supporters of coding education argue that programming develops logical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills. These abilities are valuable not only for future software developers but also for students pursuing careers in engineering, business, and science. As technology continues to transform the global economy, digital literacy has become increasingly important for future employment.

On the other hand, traditional subjects provide the foundation for intellectual and personal development. Mathematics improves analytical thinking, science encourages curiosity, and literature enhances communication skills and cultural awareness. Without a strong understanding of these subjects, students may struggle to apply coding knowledge effectively in real-world situations.

In my opinion, schools should introduce coding alongside traditional subjects instead of replacing them. A balanced curriculum would prepare students for future careers while ensuring they receive a broad and well-rounded education.

In conclusion, although traditional academic subjects remain essential, coding has become an important life skill that should be included in school education to prepare students for an increasingly digital world.

Essay 9

Question

Many people prefer shopping online rather than visiting physical stores. Do the advantages outweigh the disadvantages?

Sample Answer

Online shopping has become increasingly popular due to rapid technological development and widespread internet access. Although this trend has transformed the retail industry, it has both benefits and drawbacks. In my opinion, the advantages clearly outweigh the disadvantages.

One of the greatest benefits of online shopping is convenience. Consumers can purchase products at any time without travelling to shopping centres or waiting in long queues. This is particularly beneficial for busy professionals and people living in remote areas. In addition, online stores often provide a wider range of products and competitive prices because they have lower operating costs than traditional retailers.

Another significant advantage is the ability to compare products and read customer reviews before making a purchase. This allows consumers to make better-informed decisions and often results in greater satisfaction.

However, online shopping also has certain disadvantages. Customers cannot physically examine products before buying them, which sometimes leads to disappointment regarding quality or size. Delivery delays and online fraud are additional concerns, particularly when purchasing from unfamiliar websites.

Despite these drawbacks, technological improvements have made online shopping safer and more reliable than ever before. Secure payment systems, easy return policies, and fast delivery services have significantly reduced many of these problems.

In conclusion, although online shopping presents several challenges, its convenience, wider product selection, and competitive pricing make it a more beneficial option for most consumers.

Essay 10

Question

Traffic congestion is becoming a serious problem in many cities around the world. What are the causes of this problem, and what measures can governments take to solve it?

Sample Answer

Traffic congestion has become one of the most pressing challenges facing modern cities. Increasing numbers of private vehicles and rapid urbanisation have made daily commuting more difficult than ever before. To address this issue effectively, it is important to understand its causes and implement practical solutions.

One major cause of traffic congestion is the growing number of privately owned vehicles. As people's incomes increase, many prefer driving their own cars instead of using public transportation. Unfortunately, road infrastructure often fails to expand at the same pace as vehicle ownership. In addition, poor urban planning, limited parking facilities, and inefficient traffic management systems further worsen congestion during peak hours.

Governments can address this problem in several ways. First, they should invest heavily in reliable public transportation systems such as metro rail, electric buses, and suburban trains. Affordable and efficient public transport encourages people to leave their private vehicles at home. Second, introducing intelligent traffic management systems and synchronised traffic signals can improve traffic flow significantly. Governments may also discourage unnecessary car use by introducing congestion charges in busy city centres and promoting cycling and walking through dedicated infrastructure.

Public awareness campaigns can also encourage citizens to use environmentally friendly transportation whenever possible. Small behavioural changes, combined with effective government policies, can make a noticeable difference.

In conclusion, traffic congestion results mainly from increasing private vehicle ownership and inadequate transport planning. By improving public transportation, modernising traffic management, and encouraging sustainable travel habits, governments can significantly reduce congestion and improve the quality of urban life.

Essay 11

Question

Some people believe that governments should spend more money on healthcare than on the arts. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Sample Answer

Governments have limited financial resources and must decide how to allocate public funds effectively. While both healthcare and the arts contribute to society, I strongly agree that healthcare should receive greater financial support because it directly affects people's lives and national development.

One of the main reasons for prioritising healthcare is that a healthy population is essential for economic growth. Without access to quality medical services, people may suffer from preventable diseases that reduce productivity and increase healthcare costs in the long run. Investing in hospitals, medical equipment, and healthcare professionals can improve life expectancy and ensure that citizens receive timely treatment.

Furthermore, public health emergencies such as pandemics have demonstrated the importance of strong healthcare systems. Governments that invest in healthcare are better prepared to respond to unexpected crises, protecting both lives and the economy.

However, this does not mean that the arts should be ignored. Museums, theatres, music, and cultural festivals preserve national heritage and improve people's quality of life. The creative industry also generates employment and attracts international tourists, contributing to economic development.

In my opinion, although the arts deserve reasonable financial support, healthcare should remain the government's primary responsibility. Citizens cannot fully appreciate cultural activities if they lack access to basic medical care.

In conclusion, governments should allocate a larger proportion of their budgets to healthcare while continuing to support the arts at an appropriate level.

Essay 12

Question

Some people believe that schools should teach financial management as a compulsory subject. Do you agree or disagree?

Sample Answer

Many young adults leave school without knowing how to manage money effectively. For this reason, some people argue that financial education should become a compulsory subject in schools. I completely agree with this opinion because financial literacy is an essential life skill.

Firstly, learning how to budget, save, and invest helps students make better financial decisions in adulthood. Many people fall into debt because they lack basic knowledge about personal finance, credit cards, and loans. Teaching these concepts at school would prepare students to manage their income responsibly.

Secondly, financial education encourages long-term planning. Students who understand the importance of saving and investing are more likely to achieve financial stability in the future. They also become more aware of responsible spending habits, reducing the likelihood of unnecessary debt.

Some people argue that schools already have overloaded curricula and should focus on traditional academic subjects. While this concern is understandable, financial education can easily be integrated into existing mathematics or business studies courses without placing excessive pressure on students.

In my opinion, financial management is just as important as many traditional school subjects because it equips students with practical skills they will use throughout their lives.

In conclusion, making financial education compulsory would benefit individuals and society by helping young people become financially responsible adults.

Essay 13

Question

Some people think that international tourism creates more problems than benefits. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

Sample Answer

International tourism has expanded rapidly over the past few decades, connecting countries and cultures more than ever before. While some people believe tourism creates environmental and cultural problems, others argue that it brings significant economic and social benefits. In my opinion, the advantages of international tourism outweigh its disadvantages.

Critics argue that mass tourism damages the environment and disrupts local communities. Popular tourist destinations often experience increased pollution, traffic congestion, and overcrowding. In addition, local traditions may gradually disappear as businesses focus more on satisfying tourists than preserving their cultural heritage.

On the other hand, tourism generates substantial economic benefits. It creates employment opportunities in hotels, restaurants, transportation, and entertainment industries. Small businesses also benefit from increased demand for local products and services. Furthermore, tourism encourages cultural exchange, allowing people from different backgrounds to develop greater understanding and respect for one another.

In my opinion, the negative effects of tourism can be reduced through responsible government policies, such as limiting visitor numbers in environmentally sensitive areas and promoting sustainable tourism practices. These measures allow countries to enjoy tourism's economic benefits while protecting their natural and cultural resources.

In conclusion, although international tourism presents several challenges, its positive impact on employment, economic development, and cultural understanding makes it more beneficial overall.

Essay 14

Question

Some people believe that the best way to reduce crime is to give longer prison sentences. Others believe there are better alternatives. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

Sample Answer

Crime remains a major concern in many societies, and opinions differ regarding the most effective way to reduce it. While some believe longer prison sentences discourage criminal behaviour, others argue that prevention and rehabilitation are more effective. I believe that although imprisonment is necessary for serious offences, addressing the root causes of crime is a better long-term solution.

Supporters of longer prison sentences argue that severe punishment discourages potential criminals. Knowing that serious crimes result in lengthy imprisonment may prevent some individuals from breaking the law. In addition, dangerous offenders are removed from society, improving public safety.

However, longer prison sentences alone do not solve the underlying causes of crime. Many offences are linked to poverty, unemployment, drug addiction, or lack of education. If these problems remain unresolved, crime rates may continue despite harsher punishments. Rehabilitation programmes, vocational training, and education within prisons can help offenders reintegrate into society and reduce repeat offences.

In my opinion, governments should adopt a balanced strategy. Serious criminals should receive appropriate prison sentences, while equal attention should be given to crime prevention through education, employment opportunities, and social support.

In conclusion, although longer prison terms may reduce certain crimes, tackling their root causes offers a more sustainable solution for creating safer communities.

Essay 15

Question

Many people believe that artificial intelligence will replace most human jobs in the future. Do you think this is a positive or negative development?

Sample Answer

Artificial intelligence has advanced rapidly in recent years and is transforming many industries. While some people worry that AI will replace human workers, others believe it will create new opportunities. In my opinion, although AI will replace certain jobs, its overall impact is likely to be positive if societies prepare for these changes.

One significant advantage of artificial intelligence is increased efficiency. AI systems can perform repetitive tasks faster and more accurately than humans, allowing businesses to reduce costs and improve productivity. In sectors such as manufacturing, healthcare, and transportation, automation has already improved service quality and reduced human error.

Furthermore, technological innovation has historically created new employment opportunities. As AI develops, demand for software engineers, data analysts, cybersecurity experts, and AI specialists is expected to increase. Many traditional jobs may disappear, but entirely new professions are likely to emerge.

Nevertheless, rapid automation may create short-term unemployment, particularly for workers with limited technical skills. Governments and employers must invest in education and retraining programmes to help employees adapt to changing labour markets.

In my opinion, artificial intelligence should be viewed as a tool that complements human abilities rather than replacing them entirely. With appropriate planning and investment in skills development, society can benefit from technological progress while minimising its negative consequences.

In conclusion, although AI presents challenges for the workforce, its potential to improve productivity, innovation, and quality of life makes it a largely positive development.

Essay 16

Question

Some people believe that children should spend more time doing outdoor activities instead of playing computer games. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Sample Answer

In recent years, computer games have become one of the most popular forms of entertainment among children. While digital games can offer certain educational benefits, I strongly agree that children should spend more time participating in outdoor activities.

One important reason is that outdoor activities improve children's physical health. Regular exercise helps prevent obesity, strengthens muscles, and promotes overall fitness. In contrast, spending long hours in front of a screen encourages a sedentary lifestyle, which can lead to various health problems. Activities such as football, cycling, and swimming also help children develop coordination and teamwork skills.

Outdoor activities are equally important for children's mental and social development. When children play with others, they learn how to communicate, solve conflicts, and cooperate effectively. These experiences build confidence and improve emotional well-being. On the other hand, excessive gaming may reduce face-to-face interaction and increase feelings of isolation.

However, computer games should not be viewed as entirely negative. Certain educational games improve creativity, problem-solving skills, and strategic thinking. In addition, playing games occasionally can help children relax after school. The key is maintaining a healthy balance between screen time and physical activities.

In conclusion, although computer games can provide educational and recreational benefits, children should spend more time outdoors because it contributes significantly to their physical health, social development, and overall well-being.

Essay 17

Question

Many people think that governments should ban single-use plastic products. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Sample Answer

Plastic pollution has become one of the most serious environmental problems worldwide. Many people believe that governments should completely ban single-use plastic products to protect the environment. I largely agree with this opinion because such a policy would significantly reduce pollution, although practical alternatives should be introduced simultaneously.

One of the main reasons for banning single-use plastics is their harmful impact on ecosystems. Plastic bags, bottles, and packaging often end up in rivers and oceans, where they threaten marine life. Many animals mistakenly consume plastic waste, leading to injury or death. Furthermore, plastics take hundreds of years to decompose, causing long-term environmental damage.

Another advantage of banning these products is that it encourages businesses and consumers to adopt environmentally friendly alternatives. Reusable shopping bags, biodegradable packaging, and recyclable materials have become increasingly affordable and widely available. Government regulations would accelerate this transition and promote sustainable consumption.

However, implementing a complete ban immediately may create difficulties for certain industries that rely heavily on plastic packaging. Small businesses may require time and financial support to switch to alternative materials. Therefore, governments should introduce the policy gradually while providing incentives for environmentally responsible production.

In conclusion, I strongly support banning single-use plastic products because the environmental benefits greatly outweigh the challenges. With careful planning and public cooperation, such policies can create a cleaner and more sustainable future.

Question

Some people think that working from home is beneficial for employees, while others believe working in an office is better. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

Sample Answer

The popularity of remote working has increased dramatically in recent years. While some employees appreciate the flexibility of working from home, others believe that office-based work provides greater benefits. In my opinion, although remote work offers many advantages, a combination of both approaches is the most effective solution.

Working from home provides greater flexibility and saves valuable commuting time. Employees can organise their schedules more efficiently and often achieve a better work-life balance. In addition, remote work reduces transportation costs and allows companies to lower office expenses. These benefits can improve employee satisfaction and increase productivity for many professions.

On the other hand, working in an office creates opportunities for direct communication and teamwork. Employees can discuss ideas more easily, receive immediate feedback, and build stronger professional relationships. Office environments also reduce distractions for some people and encourage greater accountability. Furthermore, new employees often learn faster when they work alongside experienced colleagues.

In my opinion, a hybrid working model offers the greatest advantages. Employees can complete individual tasks from home while attending the office for meetings, collaboration, and team projects. This approach combines flexibility with effective communication.

In conclusion, although both working arrangements have their own strengths, a balanced combination of remote and office work provides the most practical solution for both employers and employees.

Question

Some people believe that public libraries are no longer necessary because people can access information online. Do you agree or disagree?

Sample Answer

With the rapid growth of digital technology, many people argue that public libraries are becoming unnecessary because information is easily available online. Although the internet has transformed access to knowledge, I disagree that libraries have become obsolete.

One important reason is that libraries provide equal access to educational resources regardless of a person's financial situation. Not everyone can afford computers, tablets, or high-speed internet connections. Public libraries allow students, job seekers, and researchers to use books, computers, and study spaces free of charge, helping reduce educational inequality.

Moreover, libraries offer a quiet environment that supports concentration and learning. Many students find it difficult to study effectively at home due to distractions. Libraries also organise educational programmes, reading clubs, and community events that encourage lifelong learning and social interaction.

Admittedly, online resources are convenient because they provide instant access to vast amounts of information. Digital books, academic journals, and educational videos have made learning more flexible than ever before. Nevertheless, not all online information is reliable, whereas library materials are generally selected and verified by professionals.

In conclusion, although the internet has changed the way people access information, public libraries continue to play an essential role in education, research, and community development.

Question

In many countries, the number of people who are overweight is increasing. What are the causes of this problem, and what solutions can be suggested?

Sample Answer

Obesity has become a growing public health concern in many parts of the world. Increasing numbers of adults and children are overweight, creating serious health and economic challenges. This essay will discuss the main causes of obesity and suggest several possible solutions.

One major cause is the widespread availability of unhealthy food. Fast food and sugary drinks are often cheaper and more convenient than nutritious meals, encouraging poor eating habits. At the same time, modern lifestyles have become increasingly inactive. Many people spend long hours sitting at desks, driving cars, or using electronic devices instead of engaging in regular physical exercise.

To address this issue, governments should promote healthier lifestyles through education and public health campaigns. Schools can teach children about balanced diets and the importance of regular exercise from an early age. Authorities may also introduce stricter regulations on unhealthy food advertising, particularly advertisements targeting children.

Individuals also have an important role to play. Preparing healthy meals at home, exercising regularly, and limiting the consumption of processed foods can significantly reduce the risk of obesity. Employers can support healthy lifestyles by encouraging physical activity in the workplace and providing wellness programmes.

In conclusion, obesity is mainly caused by unhealthy eating habits and sedentary lifestyles. By combining government initiatives with personal responsibility, societies can effectively reduce obesity rates and improve public health.

Essay 21 (Two-Part Question)

Question

Today more people are choosing to live alone than ever before. Why is this happening? Is it a positive or negative development?

Sample Answer

Living alone has become increasingly common in many countries over the past few decades. This trend has been driven by changing lifestyles, economic development, and greater personal independence. In my opinion, although living alone offers several advantages, it is largely a negative development because it may lead to social isolation.

One reason why more people choose to live alone is that they value independence and personal freedom. Young professionals often move to different cities to pursue better career opportunities and prefer living independently rather than with their families. In addition, increasing financial stability allows many individuals to afford their own accommodation, making independent living more accessible than in the past.

However, this trend also has several disadvantages. People who live alone are more likely to experience loneliness and mental health issues, particularly as they grow older. Without regular interaction with family members or close friends, they may struggle with stress and emotional well-being. Furthermore, maintaining a separate household is often more expensive, resulting in higher living costs and greater financial pressure.

Although living alone can encourage self-reliance and personal growth, I believe its negative social consequences outweigh the benefits. Strong family relationships and supportive communities remain essential for a healthy and balanced life.

In conclusion, people increasingly choose to live alone because of greater independence and economic opportunities. Nevertheless, this trend is generally negative due to its impact on social relationships and emotional health.

Essay 22 (Direct Question Essay)

Question

Nowadays many people spend less time with their families. Why is this happening? What effects does it have on families?

Sample Answer

Modern lifestyles have changed significantly over the past few decades, and many families now spend less time together than ever before. This trend is mainly caused by demanding work schedules and technological distractions, and it has several negative consequences for family relationships.

One major reason is that many adults work long hours to meet increasing financial demands. In addition to their regular jobs, some people work overtime or take part-time employment to improve their standard of living. As a result, they have very little time to spend with their spouses or children.

Technology has also contributed to this problem. Even when family members are at home, many spend their free time using smartphones, social media, or streaming services instead of communicating with one another. Face-to-face conversations have become less frequent, reducing emotional connections within families.

The effects of this trend are significant. Children may feel neglected and receive less guidance from their parents, while couples may experience weaker relationships due to a lack of communication. Over time, these problems can lead to misunderstandings, loneliness, and increased family conflicts.

In conclusion, demanding careers and excessive technology use are the primary reasons why families spend less time together. Unless people make greater efforts to prioritise family life, these problems are likely to become even more serious in the future.

Essay 23 (Positive or Negative Development)

Question

Many companies now allow employees to wear casual clothes at work instead of formal business attire. Is this a positive or negative development?

Sample Answer

Dress codes in the workplace have become much more relaxed in recent years. Many organisations now allow employees to wear casual clothing instead of traditional business suits. In my opinion, this is a positive development because it improves comfort, productivity, and workplace culture.

One significant advantage is that casual clothing allows employees to feel more comfortable throughout the working day. Wearing comfortable clothes can reduce stress and help workers concentrate better on their tasks rather than worrying about maintaining a formal appearance. This is particularly beneficial in creative industries where innovation and collaboration are highly valued.

Another benefit is that relaxed dress codes create a friendlier working environment. Employees may feel more approachable and confident when strict clothing rules are removed. As a result, communication between colleagues often becomes more open and effective, leading to stronger teamwork and higher job satisfaction.

Some people argue that formal clothing reflects professionalism and creates a positive impression for clients. While this may be true in certain industries such as banking or law, many modern businesses have successfully maintained high professional standards despite adopting more flexible dress policies.

In conclusion, allowing employees to wear casual clothes is generally a positive development because it promotes comfort, improves workplace morale, and can even increase productivity without reducing professionalism.

Essay 24 (Cause & Effect)

Question

In many countries, fewer young people are choosing farming as a career. Why is this happening? What are the possible consequences?

Sample Answer

Agriculture has traditionally been one of the most important occupations in many countries. However, an increasing number of young people are choosing careers outside farming. This trend is mainly driven by economic and social factors, and it may create serious challenges for food production in the future.

One major reason is that farming is often physically demanding and financially uncertain. Weather conditions, natural disasters, and fluctuating market prices make agricultural income unpredictable. As a result, many young people prefer careers in technology, finance, or business, which generally offer higher salaries and better working conditions.

Another contributing factor is urbanisation. Many young adults leave rural areas to pursue higher education and employment opportunities in cities. Once they establish urban careers, very few choose to return to agricultural work.

This trend could have serious consequences. A shortage of skilled farmers may reduce agricultural production, resulting in higher food prices and greater dependence on imported food. Rural communities may also decline as younger generations continue moving to cities, creating economic and social imbalance.

In conclusion, young people are increasingly avoiding farming because of financial uncertainty and better opportunities elsewhere. If this trend continues, it may threaten food security and the long-term sustainability of rural economies.

Essay 25 (Advantages Outweigh Disadvantages)

Question

Nowadays many people use translation software instead of learning foreign languages. Do the advantages outweigh the disadvantages?

Sample Answer

Translation technology has improved dramatically over the past decade, allowing people to communicate instantly across different languages. Although these tools offer considerable convenience, I believe their disadvantages outweigh the advantages because they discourage language learning and cannot fully replace human communication.

One obvious advantage is convenience. Translation applications enable travellers, business professionals, and tourists to communicate with people from different countries without spending years learning a new language. They also help users understand signs, documents, and websites quickly, making international communication much easier.

However, relying heavily on translation software has several drawbacks. First, these applications often fail to understand cultural expressions, humour, and context, resulting in inaccurate translations. More importantly, dependence on technology discourages people from learning foreign languages themselves. Language learning not only improves communication but also develops critical thinking, cultural awareness, and career opportunities that translation software cannot provide.

Furthermore, technical failures or internet problems can make translation tools unavailable exactly when they are needed most. People who possess genuine language skills are much more confident and adaptable in international environments.

In conclusion, although translation software offers speed and convenience, its limitations and its negative impact on language learning make it less beneficial in the long run. Learning a foreign language remains a far more valuable investment than relying entirely on technology.

Essay 26 (Problem & Solution)

Question

In many countries, the amount of household waste is increasing. Why is this happening? What measures can be taken to reduce it?

Sample Answer

Household waste has become a growing environmental concern in many parts of the world. As populations grow and consumer lifestyles change, the amount of rubbish produced by households continues to rise. This essay will discuss the reasons behind this problem and suggest possible solutions.

One of the main causes is the increasing consumption of packaged goods. Modern consumers often purchase ready-made meals, bottled drinks, and online products that come with excessive plastic and cardboard packaging. In addition, rising incomes have encouraged people to buy more products than they actually need, resulting in greater waste.

Another contributing factor is the lack of public awareness about recycling and responsible waste disposal. Many households throw recyclable materials into general waste bins simply because recycling facilities are unavailable or inconvenient.

Governments can address this issue by introducing stricter recycling policies and investing in modern waste management systems. Providing separate recycling bins and organising awareness campaigns can encourage citizens to reduce waste. Manufacturers should also be required to use environmentally friendly packaging and minimise unnecessary plastic.

Individuals can contribute by reusing household items, avoiding single-use products, and purchasing only what they need. Small changes in daily habits can collectively make a significant difference.

In conclusion, increasing consumerism and excessive packaging are the primary reasons for rising household waste. Through cooperation between governments, businesses, and individuals, this environmental challenge can be effectively addressed.

Essay 27 (Discuss Both Views)

Question

Some people think children should be given homework every day, while others believe they should have more free time. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

Sample Answer

Homework has always been an important part of education, yet many people disagree about how much children should receive. While some believe daily homework improves academic performance, others argue that children need more free time for personal development. In my opinion, homework is beneficial, but it should be given in reasonable amounts.

Supporters of daily homework argue that it reinforces classroom learning and helps students develop discipline. Completing assignments allows learners to revise lessons, practise new skills, and identify areas where they need improvement. Regular homework also encourages students to develop time management and independent learning abilities, which are valuable throughout their education.

However, excessive homework can place unnecessary pressure on children. After spending several hours at school, students also need time to relax, participate in sports, and spend time with their families. These activities are equally important because they contribute to children's physical health, emotional well-being, and social development.

In my opinion, teachers should assign homework that is meaningful rather than excessive. Short, well-designed assignments can reinforce learning without preventing children from enjoying a balanced lifestyle.

In conclusion, although homework plays an important role in education, maintaining a healthy balance between academic responsibilities and personal time is the most effective approach.

Essay 28 (Two-Part Question)

Question

More people are changing careers several times during their working lives. Why is this happening? Is this a positive or negative development?

Sample Answer

Unlike previous generations, many professionals today change careers multiple times throughout their lives. This trend has become increasingly common due to changes in the labour market and personal career expectations. Overall, I believe it is a positive development.

One reason for this trend is the rapid advancement of technology. New industries continue to emerge while some traditional occupations disappear. As a result, workers often need to develop new skills and change careers to remain competitive. In addition, people now place greater importance on job satisfaction than previous generations. If they feel unhappy or unfulfilled, they are more willing to pursue different career opportunities.

Changing careers can benefit both individuals and employers. Employees gain new experiences, broaden their professional skills, and increase their earning potential. Employers also benefit by recruiting workers with diverse backgrounds and fresh perspectives that encourage innovation.

However, frequent career changes may create financial uncertainty and require additional education or training. Some individuals may also struggle to adapt to new working environments.

Despite these challenges, I believe the benefits are greater. Career flexibility allows people to achieve greater personal satisfaction while responding effectively to changing economic conditions.

In conclusion, technological progress and changing career expectations have encouraged people to change jobs more frequently. Overall, this is a positive development because it promotes lifelong learning and professional growth.

Essay 29 (Opinion Essay)

Question

Some people believe that governments should provide free public Wi-Fi in all cities. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Sample Answer

Internet access has become an essential part of modern life. For this reason, some people argue that governments should provide free public Wi-Fi throughout cities. I generally agree with this proposal because it improves access to information, supports economic activities, and promotes digital inclusion.

One important advantage is that free internet allows people to access educational resources, government services, and emergency information regardless of their financial circumstances. Students can conduct research, job seekers can apply for employment, and tourists can navigate unfamiliar cities more easily.

Free public Wi-Fi also supports economic growth. Small business owners, freelancers, and remote workers often rely on internet access to communicate with clients and manage their work. Providing reliable public internet can therefore increase productivity and encourage entrepreneurship.

Nevertheless, governments should carefully consider security and maintenance costs. Public networks may expose users to cyber threats if adequate security measures are not implemented. Furthermore, establishing and maintaining citywide internet infrastructure requires significant public investment.

Despite these challenges, I believe the long-term benefits outweigh the costs. By combining free internet access with strong cybersecurity measures, governments can create more connected and inclusive communities.

In conclusion, providing free public Wi-Fi is a worthwhile investment that can improve education, business opportunities, and access to essential services.

Essay 30 (Mixed Essay)

Question

Many people today prefer experiences such as travelling and concerts rather than buying expensive possessions. Why do you think this is the case? Do you think this is a positive or negative trend?

Sample Answer

In recent years, many people have chosen to spend their money on experiences instead of purchasing expensive material possessions. This shift in consumer behaviour has been influenced by changing lifestyles and personal values. In my opinion, it is largely a positive trend.

One reason for this change is that experiences often create lasting memories, whereas material possessions gradually lose their value and appeal. Travelling to new places, attending concerts, or participating in outdoor activities allows people to develop new skills, strengthen relationships, and gain unique life experiences. Social media has also encouraged people to share memorable moments rather than display luxury products.

Another reason is that younger generations increasingly value personal happiness and work-life balance over material wealth. Many people now believe that investing in experiences contributes more to emotional well-being than buying expensive goods.

This trend has several positive effects. It encourages tourism, supports local businesses, and promotes cultural exchange. Experiences also help people reduce unnecessary consumerism, leading to more sustainable lifestyles. However, individuals should still manage their finances responsibly and avoid spending beyond their means simply to follow social trends.

In conclusion, people are increasingly prioritising experiences because they provide greater personal satisfaction and meaningful memories. Overall, I believe this is a positive development for both individuals and society.
